One of the most distinctive characteristics of high-quality denim is the honeycomb fades—the fading patterns that form behind the knees due to repeated folding while moving. These patterns resemble a beehive structure and usually start appearing on raw denim after a few weeks of wear.
The longer the denim is worn without washing, ideally at least six months, the sharper the honeycomb patterns become. Once the denim is finally washed, the contrast between the faded areas and the darker sections will be more pronounced, creating a unique and personal fade effect.
Honeycomb patterns are also influenced by the fit of the denim. On slimmer fits, these lines appear more defined and compact, while on looser fits, the patterns tend to be wider and more subtle. Additionally, fabric type plays a significant role, heavier and more rigid denim develops honeycombs faster than lightweight denim with stretch, similar to the difference between folding cardboard and regular paper.
At Pride N'Joy, every pair of denim is designed to evolve with its wearer, forming fades that reflect their lifestyle and daily activities. The more you wear them, the more personal your denim becomes. So, let your denim tell its story with every crease and fade!
